Nella I. Shapiro, MD, FACS, attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University in New York, and received her medical degree in 1972. Furthermore, she conducted her internship and general surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center, where she was the first woman to complete the general surgery residency in 1977. In addition, Dr. Shapiro received board certification in general surgery from the American Board of Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
